Weight and usable capacity
LiFePO4 packs are lighter than lead-acid packs of the same energy. Usable capacity also differs: a lithium pack can usually be discharged much deeper than a lead-acid pack without the same damage. Compare usable energy, not only the nominal figure on the label.
Charger settings
Lead-acid chargers often use float and equalisation stages. A LiFePO4 pack needs a constant-current, constant-voltage profile with its own charge voltage. Check the charge voltage, charge current and temperature window in the datasheet against the charger before connecting. Replacing a charger is sometimes required.
Battery management
A LiFePO4 pack with a BMS protects cells from overcharge, over-discharge and overcurrent. The BMS may disconnect the load in a fault. Confirm whether your system uses CAN, RS232 or RS485 communication to read state of charge from the pack.
Temperature
Charging below freezing needs care. Many packs limit charge temperature, so check the minimum charge temperature in the datasheet before you install in a cold location.
