How RV Loads Differ From Home Loads
An RV or camper is a house that moves, and its power system inherits three constraints a house never has: every kilogram is carried, every cabinet is shared, and the system must work while the vehicle is on the road, on a campsite with no hook-up, or in storage for weeks. RV owners therefore buy batteries on a different logic from home buyers. Weight, fit, charging while driving and tolerance of irregular use matter as much as capacity. Dealers who present these points early sell the right product and avoid the returns that come from mismatched expectations.
The RV Load Sheet
A day off-grid in a typical camper looks like this, as an illustrative sheet the owner adjusts to the actual equipment:
| Load | Power | Hours per day | Energy |
|---|---|---|---|
| Compressor refrigerator | 60 W | 10 h | 600 Wh |
| Lighting | 40 W | 4 h | 160 Wh |
| Water pump | 60 W | 0.5 h | 30 Wh |
| Ventilation fans | 30 W | 6 h | 180 Wh |
| Router and device charging | 50 W | 3 h | 150 Wh |
| Occasional inverter load, kettle class | 1000 W | 0.2 h | 200 Wh |
The illustrative total is about 1.3 kWh per day. Peak power, not daily energy, is usually the harder constraint in a camper, because a short high-power appliance can exceed what the inverter and cabling were built for.
Sizing the 12.8V Battery
On a 12.8V LiFePO4 pack, 100 amp-hours is about 1.28 kWh nominal, which covers roughly one day of the sheet above. The 150 Ah and 200 Ah sizes give two days without recharging, and packs can be paralleled within the limits of the manual for longer autonomy. Because LiFePO4 delivers a larger share of its rated capacity in daily cycling than lead-acid, an owner replacing an older bank usually keeps the same amp-hour label and gains usable energy while losing weight. Exact discharge ratings belong to the model datasheet and should be confirmed in writing against the inverter loads planned.
Portable Stations as a Second Product
Portable power stations from 400 W to 2500 W serve the parts of the market that never open a cabinet: tent campers, van conversions in progress, beach days and tailgating. They recharge from solar or from a wall socket and need no installation. For a dealer, the class is an accessible first purchase that introduces customers to LiFePO4, and it pairs naturally with the installed battery offer.
Charging Sources and Profiles
- Solar through an MPPT controller set to the lithium charge voltage and current of the model
- A DC-DC charger fed from the alternator, which protects both the starting system and the BMS charge limit; direct alternator connection is not recommended
- A shore charger with a lithium profile where campsites provide hook-up
LiFePO4 does not need a float stage, and equalize programs designed for lead-acid should stay off. The charger settings belong in the handover documents so the next owner keeps them.
Weight, Fit and Winter
An LFP pack in this class typically weighs a fraction of the lead-acid bank it replaces, which frees payload and simplifies mounting. Fit should be checked against the battery tray, terminal orientation and strap points before ordering a batch. In winter use, LFP accepts discharge well below freezing, but charging below 0 degrees Celsius should be avoided or blocked by the BMS, so the model's temperature specification matters for markets with cold seasons. For storage, a partial state of charge in a dry place beats a full pack on a charger.
Dealer Notes for the RV Channel
The RV market rewards bundles: battery, DC-DC charger, MPPT controller and a display sold together, installed and documented, removes the configuration errors that generate support calls. Installers should receive the parallel rules, the torque values and the commissioning checklist, and each installation should record the model and firmware so later additions match.
Where YueQi Fits
YueQi New Energy, based in Zhongshan, Guangdong, builds 12.8V LiFePO4 packs in 100, 150 and 200 amp-hour ratings, portable power stations from 400 W to 2500 W, and higher voltage storage classes for larger vehicles and boats. The catalog covers specifications per model, with CE and UN 38.3 marks shown on the literature and certificate copies available on request. Model-specific discharge ratings, tray fit and commercial terms are to be confirmed in writing, so the dealer's bundle matches the pack that ships.
